With that being said, if you apply this oil directly, you want to avoid direct sunlight for 12 hours due to the oil being a photo-toxic and can cause photo-sensitivity.  It has been regarded safe for human consumption by the FDA.  You can actually dilute one drop of oil in 1 tsp honey OR 1 drop of oil in 4 oz of a beverage to use as a Dietary Supplement.

If you want to blend with other oils, they have recommended Citronella, clary sage, lavender, rosemary, and all other citrus oils (like lemon in our Limeonade scrub)!

Activated Charcoal… not what you grill with.

Activated CharcoalActivated Charcoal is not what is sounds like.  It’s not something you’ll throw under the grill to cook your hamburger, it’s actually a fine black powder made from refined coconuts.  It’s 100% alkaline and is spinning with electrons.  It has been used dated back to 450BC by Hindu’s and also by Hippocrates + Pliney, and last, but not least, it was used in WWI and was placed in the masks of soldiers to keep them from inhaling toxic chemicals.

But today, we use it to detoxify the body and skin.  On the skin, it absorbs toxins that are trapped under and is great to fight acne and cellulite.  It can speed up healing wounds, relieve itchiness from bites or stings, remove toxins from bites or stings, eliminates body odor from underarms, feet, and the scalp.  But we’re not done yet… you can even use it as a teeth whitener or reduce/eliminate body gas!!

This ingredient is in our Green Lava and Moroccan Lava Masks.  But don’t feel like you have to limit this to your face.. you can use it all over your body!  Take 1 tsp of the mask powder and combine it with 1 tsp of water, rosewater, or even coconut oil and mix it together to make a paste.  Then you rub it on your face and let it sit for a minimum of 10 minutes.  Then wipe off with warm water and a rag.  If you want to make a body mask, use the same technique of 1 tsp of mask powder to 1 tsp of your chosen ingredient and begin to put on your body working from the top down (this is a specific method to doing this, not just a suggestion).  Keep it on for 10 min and then hop in the shower and rinse it off.  Be sure to drink water and keep hydrated because when you are pulling out the toxins, you want to replenish with fluid!

We received our information from Livestrong,

Put your fresh face forward for 2014

FreshFaceChoose from our variety of Clay masks to cleanse and rejuvenate your face.. or body!  After you wash/rinse your face, top it off with our Wake Your Face solution; made with chamomile tea and essential oils of lavender and melaleuca.

Clay Masks

These clay masks can be applied on your face and body!  Begin by taking 1 tsp of clay powder and 1 tbsp of water, rose water, coconut oil, lemon juice, sweet almond oil, or yogurt and make a paste.  Then apply this paste to your face or your body.  If you are going to apply to your body, then start from the top and make your way down.  With both types of applications, keep it on for 10-20 minutes, and then wipe it off with a warm rag or hop in the shower and rinse it all off.

We Want To..

Our WantsEvery time we sit down to have a business meeting and assess the month that just passed and the month we’re going into, we stop and list our wants.  These are our wants.  We want to heal, educate, and make honest products!… and in that order!

We truly want to help people on every level.  Mackenzie has goals of completing courses in Nutrition and to become a Master Herbalist and Danielle has goals of becoming a Physician and practice in Natropathy and also become a Master Herbalist.

We find things out every day and we want to share our knowledge with everyone.  We want to teach you how to make things yourself and to learn more about the ingredients you are using.

And last, but not least, we want to make honest products.  We want to make products that you can trust, no matter what country you live in!  We want products that you know will be safe for you and not just because the FDA has approved a “certain amount” of “something” to be in it.  Some of our products may only last 30 days, but that’s because we’re not pumping them up with artificial preservatives so it can sit on your shelf for months at a time.

So when you see the name Two Simple Owls, you know that you are not only getting an honest product, but you have people building a company that want to heal and to educate.

Shea Whaaaat? Shea Butter Body Mousse

lotion3Our Shea Butter Body Mousse is made with a base of Water (Purified, not tap!), EVOO, Grapeseed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Magnesium Flakes, Beeswax, Organic Honey, Stearic Acid (a natural emulsifier that’s derived from animal+veggie fats), and blends of Certified Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils.

Water is a great and natural base for any solution and we use purified water (no tap water in our products)!  Extra Virgin Olive Oil is loaded with nutrition and antioxidants like vitamins A and E and these can help repair skin damage from sun exposure, cigarette smoke and pollutants and helps to promote your skin’s elasticity.  Sweet Almond Oil is a great emollient because it softens skin, rather than just hydrating it.  It has been known to relieve dry, flaking, and itchy skin due to eczema, psoriasis and rashes and is suitable for all skin types.  Grapeseed Oil contains the fatty acid, linoleic acid, this makes it a good solution to improve/cure various skin conditions, such as acne.  It an also assist in preventing the pores from clogging and even contains anti-inflammatory properties.  This oil has been known to stimulate biological tissues to contract and draw together, thus helping reduce swelling and helping with reducing signs of aging.  It is very light and can easily be absorbed by the skin and not leave any oily residue, which also makes this great for sensitive skin.  Shea butter is an all-natural vitamin A cream and has Vitamin E that is an amazing moisturizer.  The Vitamin A is important for improving skin conditions such as skin allergies, insect bites, sunburns, wrinkles, blemishes, itching, eczema and more.  Magnesium can increase energy and stamina by encouraging the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the energy packets made in the cells and that’s why they say that good magnesium levels can help you look better, feel better, and gain more energy.  According to Dr. RH Waring*, Magnesium regulates the activity of over 325 enzymes, reduces inflammation, helps muscles and nerve functions, and helps to prevent artery hardening.  Beeswax naturally comes from bees and is extracted, then melted, and then purified by the beekeeper; this process does not include chemical processing.  It’s great for dry, rough, skin because it is good for locking in moisture, fostering cells, and protecting the skin from damage, but also offers anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral benefits.  Organic Honey is a humectant, which makes it a great moisturizer.  It also has High osmolality which means that the sugars interact with water in such a way that microorganisms cannot develop. In addition, when it comes in contact with wound exudates–fluids that weep from sores or ulcers–hydrogen peroxide is produced. The creation of the hydrogen peroxide can provide antibacterial benefits to ulcerated areas, which speeds healing. Stearic Acid is a fatty acid that occurs naturally in various plants and animals.  You’ll find it in animal tallow, cocoa butter, and even veggies.  We use it because it’s a powerful cleanser and a natural emulsifier (which means that it helps blend the oils and water) and it will thicken the products and act as a preservative to give it a longer shelf life!  Essential Oils will not only give an amazing scent, but they will have properties and qualities that will do your mind and body wonders.

This products is sold in a 4 oz plastic jar and the price varies on the scent.
